Power Rangers Dino Fury Dimetro Blaze Zord review

There is so much to go over for the last few bits of Dino Fury. With how staggered the releases have been for the line, and moreso than both Beast Morphers and practically almost all of Bandai's run of the brand, it's not as easy to catch up with the Dino Fury line as one would have hoped. It's not the end of the world, but it is irritating for those that were hoping to get some stuff in stores. I mean, the Dimetro Zord and the Gold Fury Blade Blaster were much easier to spot in stores than the last two mainline figures, and I'm probably not going to get Cosmic Fury's stuff since the suits and their morpher (the toy, not the in-show prop) aren't shaping up to be that great. But now it's time to take a look at the Dimetro Zord!

Here is the Dimetro Zord in-hand. This guy looks pretty faithful to the Japanese version, albeit seemingly with more details sculpted into it. I like the inclusion of translucent plastic to convey its fiery design traits, especially as a good contrast to the clear plastic on the Ptera Freeze Zord representing ice. We had a previous Dimetro Zord in Dino Thunder, which is baby blue and has a back spine that served as a buzzsaw, and it's cool to see something like this get an entirely different iteration for a new season's line of Zords...though Bandai Japan did have a fiery red Dimetro Zord for Abaranger....

Two new pieces are added to the Zord in order to give him a bit of a flight mode, which include the two winglets that could probably be used as blades if it weren't for the blocks and the weird pieces that were used previously by the second and third sets of Dino Fury Zords. It makes him look like he's trying to be like Superman, which is kind of funny how it works like that. Honestly, these pieces fit in well with the aesthetics of Ryusoulger, so I wouldn't be surprised if the new pieces or alternate configurations that the second and third sets had been loved by Sentai Purists of Ryusoulger did it first. Oh, and he has an articulated jaw.

And here are all of the Dino Fury Zords we got so far. We already got the main 5 Zords back in 2021 either as a set or in 3 separate releases (T-Rex, Stega & Tricera, Smilodon & Ankylo) and later 2 releases in 2022 in the form of Moza Razor and Ptera Freeze. The Dimetro Zord makes a good addition of orange as it feels like we have 3 shades of blue already with Tricera, Mosa Razor, and Ptera Freeze literally being the trinity of shades associated with that color, so it's great to have some orange pop up wit the Zords. In fact, with the likelihood of Fern popping up as the Orange Ranger in Cosmic Fury, I would have LOVED to see her pop up in the show much earlier before she gets the honestly dull Cosmic Fury suit design (seriously Hasbro just keep the black in the middle of the suits!)

The Dino Fury key we have is not only used to power up the Ranger using it for the chest armor, but it is also what serves as the head for the alternate formations with the T-Rex Champion Zord. I never cared for the RyuSouls or their PR equivalents, as one is basically the abandoned child of Ranger Keys and Dino Thunder face plates, and the other kind that comes with the basic figures is literally a sticker. However, I did like the versions that came with the Zords because they not only looked good with the sculpted details and paint apps, but they also had neck articulation as well as a hidden back plate that revealed both the knight and the Ranger piloting it. In this case, it's the Pink Ranger with the Dimetro Blaze Armor (you can tell because of the skirt being the key trait of her suit). They once again didn't have to include that but they made these keys (and by extension, the rest of the Zord keys) more worthwhile than either the Basic figure or Japanese versions. That being said, the head does look a little lost underneath what will be mostly lame shoulder pieces since it's smaller and mostly translucent (it could benefit from a regular opaque release with a metallic sheen).

One combination you can without the Champion Zord is the Electro Zord, which has you taking it apart along with the Mosa Razor Zord as both become this Spinozord. It's not that articulated, and it looks unwieldy and resembles something you'd see at the back of the box for additional modes, but it does show the possibility of mixing and matching Zords with the Lego ports.

As for the combinations with the T-Rex Champion Zord, the first one has you split its pieces apart, making the tail and spine fin as weapons, making the entire body as canons, and rotating the head upside down so the drills can serve as groin stabbers. The resulting T-Rex Blazing Megazord is a nice mix of red and orange, serving as a reminder of the fiery theme of this combination specifically. The shoulder pieces themselves could be a little more impressive if they were less slapped-on. The flat gray also makes them look pretty mediocre by comparison to the prominent red and orange; if there was more color breakup for the shoulder cannons then I'd like it more. As for the Fusion Ultrazord, we now feature the Mosa Razor Zord, use the tail sword as the chest,  attach the parts of the Mosa Razor Zord around the legs, and we get a fairly alright combination. It, alongside the Primal UltraZord, mostly has the same arm and leg additions that only make the combinations unique from the upper body. I don't like how the head mask is on a clip that doesn't make the piece stay all the way in due to the off-level positions they both have while unclipping the mask makes it look off (two claws trying to grab handlebars). But while you can stick all that crap of the remaining main Dino Fury Zords on the Warrior Formation, we can go a step further with the remaining 3 Zords, as there is a fan-made combination with the Ptera Freeze, Mosa Razor, and Dimetro Blaze Zords, presenting us with the Blazing Freeze Razorzord! It's unwieldy and the ankles can't really keep it stable much, but it looks so cool. And the IcyHot mix onto the design with bits of the Mosa Razor Zord really puts a lot more potential into the whole Ryusoulger line. Also makes me wish we got original Rangers for not just Orange but for the Ptera Freeze Zord.

I gotta say that it's pretty cool to have a new way to use these configurations in a way that hasn't been done with the toyline due to them going with the standard instructions. Ultimately, it's making me hope we can get some form of way of getting the Pachy Parent & the Cosmic Raptor set. If we get them, then I'll try to find a way to integrate them into this clusterfuck. But until then, better get the Dimetro Blaze Zord if you want to get a more complete Zord set than what Beast Morphers could reach. But maybe wait for a discount or use a gift card on it.

Final ranking: ⭐⭐⭐ and a half out of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
