Transformers Kingdom Ractonite review

When the clock strikes/Half past six, babe
Time to head for/Golden lights
It's a good time/for a great taste
Dinner at McDonald's
It's Ractonite!
Come on, make it Ractonite!

Here we have him in skeleton mode. It's a very nice take on the Styracosaurus's bare structure, with all of the molded details and paint apps I'd expect from a beast like him! He's nice and complete, and I especially like the red eyes that do make him look more intimidating than the lack of eyes that Paleotrex has. It's worth mentioning that he's a boney white rather than the beige that Paleotrex has; it's neat since it helps him stand out and also helps so you don't accidentally mix their parts up. That being said, some parts are a little lighter than others, mainly the horns and tail.

The articulation for the beast mode consists of sideways turns for the head, jaw-ticulation, forward legs can swivel, hinge at two points, and the legs move front and back, in and out, swivel, bend at the knees, and pivot at the ankles.

Here he is with the other skeletonformers, which is a very nice display overall for those that want a dinosaur museum for these guys. The hinges and 5mm ports are there, but the rest of the details are so nice that it doesn't matter. I don't think Draconite would look good, but I am excited for Wingfinger!

Transformation for this guy is in the form of partsforming, which is pretty much how Paleotrex works. As far as what makes him unique, his robot head doesn't come off while his dino head does, his legs are mostly intact, and he results in a stocker robot mode. Now my pictures have him mistransformed, with the Styraco head facing the side rather than upwards, but it's a neat Dino Charge Rexy homage I wanted to make. Ractonite's design is certainly the bulky of the two, with wide arms and thin legs in contrast to the blocky torso. It's almost like a skeleton for Energon Optimus! It reminds me of a skeleton version of Beast Wars II Guiledart. And hey, maybe you can alter his transformation to give him the beast head for a hand!

Head sculpt is rather unique from Paleotrex, giving him a more knight-like look to the character. Is it a G1 styled-take on the AOE Dinobots or a reference to Dino Fury having knight elements? His articulation is on-par with the rest of the WFC line, with a ball-jointed head, shoulders that move front and back as well as in and out, bicep swivels, elbow bends, a waist swivel, hips that move front and back as well as in and out, thigh swivels, knee bends, and ankle pivots. Since he has no proper hands, you have to use the 5mm ports to have him hold his weapon like it transformed from his hand. And his mask can flip down to make him look like a knight!

In terms of reuses, this Tricranius! He is a fiery Maximal reuse of the mold that turns into a triceratops this time around. He has an accessory pack like the Centurion Drone did last year, but rather than compliment your Beast Wars figures with extra accessories, he just has blast effect pieces that are missing in the rest of the Kingdom line.

Here he is in-between the Fossilizer Paleotrex and the Core-Class Vertebreak. While they may not be the Predacons from the Beast Wars cartoon, having them in my possession is neat and makes me want more prehistoric skeleton Transformers. I also like how despite they're all skeletons of dinosaurs, they're at least unique from each other in terms of coloring and design.

Now we shall pull him to pieces! The head, arms, right shoulder, legs, forearms, tail, pelvis, and two horns can come off. The nasal horn should come off but it's glued on my copy. It's a thing I don't get but at least it's something I got aware of so I didn't tear it off by accident.

And here we have Inferno using Ractonite's pieces as a head drill and a hammer! It's great to have more weapon potential with even the boney Predacons in the line, especially with the fact that Ractonite's design seemed even less efficient than with Paleotrex. Overall, this guy is one of those Transformers that you might not want to get at first glance yet are interested in getting him since he turns out to have plenty of great features and provides a sweet amount of versatility overall. I recommend getting him even if he's not going to be as popular as the good guys Airazor and Huffer; that being said, he's a better toy than Arcee is.
