Frances Barrison, aka Shriek, is a terrifying criminal with the power to manipulate sound after getting her mutant powers unlocked by an encounter with Cloak's Darkforce Dimension before she would later on be the lover of Cletus Kasady, host of the Carnage symbiote. While best known for usually sticking around in any Spider-Man media that revolves around the symbiote, she has popped up in other media with very brief appearances, usually in small cameos for the Disney XD Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, certain versions of the Spider-Man 3 game as a wife of Michael Morbius, and being one of the antagonists of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This figure was clearly made to tie-in with the movie's release despite being in the comic design, but let's see what this Marvel Legends offering has to offer.
Here is Shriek in-hand. She captures the look of the comic design pretty effectively, with the black spandex suit with white details here and there to go with a traditional design, though I'd like to have some alternate parts that are reminiscent of what was seen in stuff like The Jackal Files. It's an all black body with white breaking up the torso, the hands, and other details like the belt and bracelet. There's not a whole lot to talk about apart from how I do like the asymmetry for the forearms as well as the white paint looking right on the body (as in it actually looks properly tampographed on there). I also like that this figure doesn't have any pinned joints, which is a new trend for Marvel Legends of late.
Head sculpt is pretty solid looking and reminds me of something like the band KISS, though she also weirdly reminds me of Domino from the X-Force. It's a decent face sculpt with a devious grin as well as one normal eye and one without a pupil, further adding a bit of asymmetry. Her articulation is standard to the norm of what male characters have, albeit with a diaphragm joint doing both the ab crunch and waist rotation. HOWEVER, she does now have double-jointed elbows and bicep swivels much like the guys do, which is a very big bonus for female Hasbro figures that lack the articulation needs. Oh, and while she lacks any alternate accessories, she has a pair of fists and a pair of accessory-holding hands that she doesn't even fucking need.
As for her BAF piece, it's the torso and back cover of Armadillo. So yeah, this figure isn't really mindblowing, and there are accessories I'd love to see tackled in this release, but I must say that it does the job alright for anyone that wanted to get the BAF as well as a character meant for the classic Maximum Carnage storyline and the Sony Venom sequel inspired by it.
