Here we have Skydive and Fireflight in their jet modes. The former is an unlicensed approximation of a F-4 Phantom, while the other is a rough approximation of an F-16 Falcon. Both are clunky from the underside, Fireflight has proportions almost as goofy as Slingshot's, while Skydive almost has me thinking of a much fatter version of TFP Starscream. On the bright side, with a cast of mostly white, red, and black robots, the blue tailfin and yellow lightning bolts help Skydive pop. Their landing gear are barely noticeable as shit.
As a team, they all look decently dynamic. Not as visually distinct as the Seekers, but at least they each have a prominent color per jet. And as we all know, a Concord should be much, much larger.
Transformations are the same as what we got before, so we have the similar leg transformations, wings and nosecones stuck on the backpacks, and their guns are reused. They share the same articulation as before, and they do the sole necessity of being cartoon accurate fine enough.
Here we have the entire Aerialbots lined up in robot mode. They all have the same red chests, but at least Fireflight has his with some added white and blue details.
The two bots can either bunch up into part of a leg or be a jet mode split in half for the arm mode. They look broken up badly, and it's hilarious out of context.
And here we have a bunch of parts ready to be assembled into Superion. As mentioned before, this is a skeleton frame combiner much like with Legacy's Superion and unlike this year's SS86 Devastator.
And as for Superion himself, he already looked fine if possibly inaccurate in some spots. The arm bots blend in decently with the upper limbs, while the leg bots end up barely visible from front unless you see them from the side. While the Combiner Wars versions did have the alt mode tops face forward, that was seen as inaccurate to many fans; this configuration is closer to the show, but Skydive and Air Raid may as well not be there. The door gimmick is still cool, though. I wish Superion's gun tabbed in better, though.
As we wait for Bruticus to avenge Blast Off, the Aerialbots will get this one-word summary: average. The limb bots themselves are not awful toys, but they sure as hell ain't mind blowing on their own. Meanwhile, Silverbolt is what you get when there is a sub-par torso bot with a history of less than stellar toys with his solution to having slightly, slightly, slightly, slightly, slightly less robot junk underneath him is by moving most of the combiner parts into an extension of himself. You may as well not buy any of the Aerialbots if you're cherry picking the line. That being said, they are some of the more crucial parts to a G1 display, and at least none of them broke on me compared to the cheap ass Combiner Wars version. Seriously, my CW Silverbolt's arm broke off and the Air Raid from the same line started to have his ratchet joint wear down the plastic on the torso, making it split at the sides.
Final ranking: ⭐⭐⭐ and a half out of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
