Power Rangers Beast Morphers Beast Jet Zord review

The Beast Morphers Zord lineup is certainly interesting, as it does manage to make some surprisingly solid toys that improve on the Japanese versions, even with some flaws that are different from Bandai. Now we've come to the final Zord of the line (for now, at least), we have the second half of the Super Beetle Brothers; calling them beetles in Power Rangers is odd since Hasbro renamed this as a Scarab, even though stag beetle is an easier name to remember. Anyways, does this little guy round off the five Zords nicely?

Here we have the Beast Jet Zord in its vehicle mode, and it's a pretty decent design despite it having the but elements shown in a few spots. I agree with PowerRangerTube that it better resembles the vehicle it's based off of than the Chopper Zord, though it was clear that it had to maintain its proportions to that of a rabbit. This mode is alroght but I do wish most of it had some extra silver paint. As it stands, it looks kind of unfinished, and I don't like how faded the cockpit looks. Otherwise, the design of the jet works.

I do feel that the Ultrazord mask being exposed does look odd, and it looks more like it's tacked on there than it is integrated nicely. Still, at least it sort of flows with the shape of the jet. Next to the Japanese version, I do like that version's use of silver paint in comparison, and the more prominent tailfins make it look better, while also making the mask look less obvious.

Here it is with the Wrecker Zord. The scale sort of makes me think of how a Transformer similar to Onslaught or Hot Spot would be larger than the Aerialbots. Still, it's a decent lineup between the Zords of the brothers.

You can slide the Jet Zord on the crane arm like on the show, though some slits are thicker than others, leading to varying results when it comes to which one will help leave the Zord attached.

Here we have all 5 Zords in their vehicle modes. It's nice to see these five together, even if it took quite a while given how they were split up like in Japan. Gold and Silver don't have visible beast heads since they weren't made to use them, and Steel is a Beast Bot that pilots his Zord as a Ranger.

The transformation into the Scarab/Stag Beetle mode is pretty basic, as you just open the pincers, then hinge the front legs before hinging the wings up. It's a decent bug mode that doesn't do much, but you can open the pincers if you like. Compared to the Japanese version, you can see how I wish the Hasbro version would have the same level of shine that we got from the Japanese version along with a more vibrant deco. Those gold highlights look like they've faded from age compared to the Japanese version, which pops more in comparison.

Here he is with the Mantis (which should be a rhinoceros beetle) Even with the faded colors, these two look decent overall. While some would prefer if they had the deco of the Japanese versions, it's cool to have both Zords together in a more accessible manner.

Here are the five beasts together, and I do like the variety in designs for these beasts, which is something I felt was last seen with Ninja Storm, as the sizes for these Zords are pretty different from one another despite not making one Zord extremely tiny compared to the Red Hawk Zord. Speaking of Ninja Storm, is it funny how we have yet another brotherly pair of Beetles?

This Zord's fine for what it is, though it does feel like the weakest of the 5. It doesn't really do too much, the paint being faded is the worst example compared to the others, and the plastic is kind of weird since it doesn't really have the same kind of density that the Chopper Zord has. Plastic quality for these Zords isn't as nice as it's been for the Bandai Zords, but it's odd here since it doesn't feel quite right.

Attaching the pieces of the Jet Zord onto the Wrecker Zord's not too hard, as all you need to do is to simply split the Zord into three pieces, and the result is a gun for the right arm and a claw shield for the left arm. The swords of the Wrecker Zord become shin guards, the turbine becomes a chest cannon, the Ultrazord mask becomes a butt-flap, and the mask can be split open to reveal a new face. The combination is not quite as effective as the Beast-X Megazord, leaving it more like it's the Wild Force Megazord using the Elephant Zord as a sword and shield rather than mostly altered Megazord. Comparing it to the Japanese version is like comparing sunrise and sunset, as PowerRangerTube also said. Paint and certain kind of molding differences set these two apart, but there is no significant difference in terms of functionality.

The side and rear views look mostly the same as with the Wrecker Zord on its own, just with the Jet Zord extremities slapped on.

You do have a cooler face with the original faceplate revealed, which also makes the head design also resemble how Steel combined both elements of the Gold and Silver Zords. I also like how the paint apps are better applied than with the visor for the individual Wrecker Zord.

You can combine both the Jet Zord with the Racer Zord if you want, though this has yet to be done in the show to my knowledge.  It does make the combination slightly unstable given how the legs being hollow doesn't really help with posing the heavy left arm.

Here is a size comparison between the Striker Megazord with the Beast-X Megazord, and you can certainly see just how much of a striking difference there is with the height. While Beast-X Megazord is taller than most normal Megazords, be it Bandai America or Japan, the Striker Megazord looks to be the same height as what older Megazords were. They didn't scale with each other either, but at least the size difference and design difference isn't as bad as it's been with the mecha from the new Kirameiger.

As a Megazord, this combination doesn't really wow me as much as the Beast-X Megazord. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't feel too much like an improvement as what we got with Beast-X. While you do have to get these two because they're not as common as the components for the Wheeler and Chopper (and don't get me started on the lack of triple changer availability), these two add the most as Ultrazord configurations...which we shall see tomorrow.

Final ranking: ⭐⭐ and a half out of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
